RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
We are able to offer a range of restorative treatments, aimed at giving you back your confidence and your smile. Our comprehensive treatment options will give you plenty of pathways to meet your aesthetic, psychological and functional aims.
FILLINGS
The surface of teeth can become compromised due to wear or physical traumas, resulting in a softened surface and eventually a cavity. In this instance, a filling can be used to seal the fault, building the tooth back up to its original size and surface shape. This treatment revives the function and aesthetics of your tooth, bringing your smile back to life.
CROWNS
A crown (sometimes called a cap) is a restoration that involves preparing the tooth beforehand, before placing this restoration. The outcome is a strong replacement, visually identical to the other natural teeth in a patient’s mouth.
A crown may be your best option if you have a tooth which has decayed, broken or has been heavily restored with a filling. You can also consider a crown to improve the aesthetics of a damaged tooth. Further, if you have undergone root canal treatment, it is often recommended to have a crown restoration to protect this work, and provide a suitable aesthetic outcome.
BRIDGES
Missing teeth can massively impact your self-confidence, as well as the way you eat and talk. Left alone, the gaps caused by missing teeth can cause greater issues as the remaining teeth move to fill these gaps, impacting your bite and the alignment of your jaw. Further, you can experience food trapping in gaps, leading to decay and potentially even gum disease.
One way to compact a dental gap is with a dental bridge. Unlike removeable solutions such as dentures, bridges are fixed onto the teeth either side of a gap as ‘anchors’. For patients who don’t wish to have dental implants, a bridge can be a great alternative. Similar to crowns, bridges allow a range of options when it comes to materials and aesthetics, giving you a solution you can be proud of.
DENTURES
A removeable option such as a denture can be a great choice for patients looking to avoid unwanted tooth movements and their effect on the surrounding teeth. Dentures also often allow patients to return to a more varied diet, thanks to the increased biting and chewing abilities.
Further, dentures can offer a smile you can be proud of, giving you back your confidence. Made of either acrylic or metal, a ‘full’ denture replaces all of the natural teeth in either a lower or upper jaw, whilst a ‘partial’ helps fill spaces between remaining natural teeth. For patients who are either not keen on, or not suitable for implants or bridges, dentures are a great option.
